How's the weather up there?

An adult camel can stand up to six feet at the shoulder and seven feet at the hump.  The hump is made up of fatty tissue which the animal uses for energy when food is very scarce.  If the camel uses too much fat for energy there will remain a small flap of skin that will hang over the side of the camel until returned back to normal.

Camels have a bad reputation, and they are known to be bad-tempered and will kick and spit.  But they go against their reputation and are usually smart-brained, good-tempered, and patient.  As you can see, their  moods change often.  A camel that is fully grown can weigh up to 1,542 pounds!  Camel's are often called "Ships of the Desert," meaning they can carry a lot of weight.

Camels come in a w i d e variety of colors.  From black to the lightest brown.  They have keen hearing but very tiny ears.   Their eyes are large in size but have a gentle look.  Long eyelashes keep out sand and dust, and very thick eyebrows shield their sensitive eyes.
A camel can go up to seven days with none or very little food and water.  A camel that travels across an area that food is hard to find will eat any little scrap or bone it can find.
