Cliff Bayer is one of the best in fencing, in my opinion. He’s had many accomplishments in the past and will probably make more in the future.

Cliff’s sword fighting started as a result of a movie, in a way.  When George Lucas came out with the movie "Star Wars," Cliff began his interest in fencing.  When little Cliff saw the swashbuckling Luke Skywalker, he was determined to become just like him.  After that he started practicing at home to be a good fencer, just like Luke.

Once Bayer practiced enough he was able to go to a fencing studio to train.  Bayer has trained so hard that now he has gotten many Olympic medals.  Cliff has won medals in places as far away as St. Petersburg and in Atlanta.

Bayer is an American.  He lives in the state of New York.  When Bayer won the gold medal at St. Petersburg, the people’s mouths opened wide in disbelief.  They never knew an "American" could do all of this.

Bayer’s life now is pretty normal now, for now.  He goes to the Wharton School of Business. But he is still fencing, and is trying out for the Sydney 2000 games.
