Where is it located?

This skyscraper is located on North Michigan Avenue, near the Water Tower. This was a brilliant place for it to be constructed because Michigan Avenue is a popular location for shopping and many businesses are located there.

The John Hancock Center was designed by Bruce Graham, a well known architect who is part of the Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill architecture firm. This was one of his first and most popular buildings.

Graham's influence for designing this skyscraper was to make it fit in with the surroundings of the site, because it was going to be built on North Michigan Avenue, a place where many shops and businesses were located.

The John Hancock is used for lots of different things. The first five stories are stores, six through twelve are for parking, 13 through 41 are offices, 44 through 92 are condos, and 93 through 100 are for television facilities, an observatory, a restaurant, and mechanical uses.
