When was it built?

This interesting landmark was built in 1965. The Daley Center was constructed using a modern style of architecture. Two features that make it more modern are the use of steel and the thick metal columns around the building. When the Daley Center was built it was called the Civic Center but it was changed to the Daley Center in 1976.

What makes it special?

The Daley Center was named after one of Chicago's greatest mayors, Mayor Richard J. Daley. He was the father of the current mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley. The Daley Center also has one of Picasso's greatest works, "The Picasso," which was named that by the city because Picasso never got a chance to name the piece. The Daley Center is a great example of modern architecture.
