King Kamehameha
byMabel Kolish

King Kamehameha was a chief who at first did not make any new laws or change the way the Island was. King Kamehameha had to build a temple in the honor of the god Lono who helped him win his wars/battles.

King Kamehameha wore a large curving feather helmet,a red and yellow feather cape that only the kings could wear, and his big brown powerful body shown like dark ,polished metal.

King Kamehame traveled in a canoe which held 12 paddlers. The canoe was painted red, and a golden flag flew from its tall, slender mast. While King Kamehameha was out searching for someone to be killed on the alter that they had built for the god Lono he was hit on his head from a fisherman while he was stuck. Then King Kamehameha had made a law which is the law of the splintered paddle.

King Kamehamehas actually named Alii nui (great one).King Kamehameha was a big and powerful man, skilled and courageous in wars, and a kind and wise King. King Kamehameha had many wives the most important on was Keopuolani his sacred wife and Queen mother. His most beloved wife was Kaahumanu. In 1819 King Kamehameha died in his grass palace beside the seas of Kailua,Kona. His body was taken to the concealed cave where no one knows where he is buried.
