The Hawaiians had boxing in the makahiki. They had boxing in each ahupua'a (land district). Boxers came from different places but came to one place. The Hawaiians would see who is the best at boxing.
The Hawaiians sat in a circle to see the boxers fight. The people would cheer for their favorite and called the other bad names. The people would bet who will win. If the Hawaiians were wrong they would pay them food.
