When families got into argument they turned to fighting. The Viking warriors were known as berserkers(ber zerk' erz). Vikings belived that fighting ment honor, strength, and courage. The families wanted to fight to gain respect and wealth. When the warriors wanted to warn others of war they would light a fire on top of a tall mountain. Then people who saw the fire would light more fires to warn others. Warriors would fight with battle axes, swords, and spears. Also they would use they decorated and used metal helmets. They also wore a lot of armor. Because they didn't want their enemy the satisfaction of killing them they would rather kill themselves then get killed.
