Egyptian Religion
Ancient Egyptian worship is known for all of it's conflicting
beliefs. The early deities were at first animals, but were soon
humanized. The most important god in the egyptian religion was
Ra (Re) who was created in chaos. The most important cults of
worship were the cults of Osiris, protector of the dead. Ra was
symbolized by the pyramid because it was so tall an eched towards
the sky.
Life after death- Phroahs were buried in tombs and
immense pyramids. The most famous of these pyramids are the ones
of the ones of the Giza Plateau. The biggest pyramid, and one
of the 7 wonders of the world is the great pyramid. When the pharoahs
were buried they were buried with all of their wonderful possesion
along with some of the slaves that served them. This way the slaves
could sve them in an after life. Then the rule would be passed
down to the most worthy person/who the past pharoah wanted as
a new pharoah.
Ra- Ra was believed to be the creator of earth and
life. Also, Ra ruled the after life. He was supreme of the cosmic
seities. Early pharoahs alleged descent from him. A lot of other
gods, such as Amon, were identified with him. His symbol, and
his symbol only, is the pyramid.
When the Pharoahs went on to the afterlife the people
who had been buried with the pharoahs would serve them in the
afterlife. Also, treasures that were buried with the pharoahs
would go with hem to the afterlife. When the pharoahs were in the
afterlife they were said to live with the gods and be kings once
again.
