Earth's Weather and Information

Earth, our home sweet home, is an extraordinary blue and white sphere when seen from space. It is the third planet from the sun and is the largest of the inner planets. Earth is the only known planet to have life and liquid on its surface.

As you can see, this page will be all about earth's facts. For example, you may see information about weather and other events. You may not find exactly what you need, but there are more topics to see and know.

Weather:

El Niņo & La Niņa

Have you ever wondered if there was a difference between El Niņo and El Niņa? Have you ever thought of them as the same thing, a storm? Well, you're wrong! There is a difference between the two, and here's why....

El Niņo was originally accepted by some men who were fishing off the coast of South America as an image of unusual warm water in the Pacific Ocean, happening close to the beginning of the year. El Niņo means "The Little Boy" or "Christ Child" in Spanish. This name was used for the tendency of the  miracle to arrive near Christmas. La Niņa means " The Little Girl". La Niņa is also called El Viejo, anti-El Nino, or simply " a cold episode" or "cold event".

Lightning

How did thunderstorms get their name? A lot of kids are wondering why. Well, the most spectacular element of a thunderstorm is lightning. That is how thunderstorms got their name. Lightning causes thunder.

Lightning is a visible electric discharge between clouds and the earth.  Lightning is also  huge sparks. A single stroke of it can heat the air, that's surrounding it, to 13,000° C (54,000° F)! This incredible heating causes the air around it to stretch all around at an explosive rate. The expansion makes a shock wave that changes into a booming sound wave, better known as thunder. Thus the name "thunderstorm".

Earth's Water

Earth is 70% covered with water, and 97% of that is part of the salty oceans. Only a small division of the earth's water is freshwater. This includes such bodies of water as lakes, rivers, and groundwater. Freshwater is needed for drinking, washing, and farming. There is even water in the form of ice at the poles. Without water, life as we know it would not exist.

Interior and

Surface of Earth

Earth, the largest and densest rocky planet, was created 4.5 billion yeas ago. The earth's inside is composed of iron and oxygen combined with various elements into different mineral outlines. It is divided into four sheets which is typical of rocky planets. Volcanoes, mountains, rivers, and earthquakes are all examples of exterior features on earth. However, there are still more due to the complexity of earth.
