The Griffon Vulture can weigh up to 15 pounds, and has an eight foot
wingspan. It is usually a light sandy brown color. They eat large dead
mammals. The only part they eat is muscle. The Griffon Vulture is the
friendliest and most social of vultures. It isn't even territorial.
They always build their nests on cliffs. 10-15 pair of vultures may
share nesting grounds. Occasionally two eggs are hatched, but usually one.
Incubation peroid is long, usually 48 to 50 days. The Griffon Vulture may
live up to 40 years in the wild! Griffon Vultures rely on vision to
hunt, unlike new world vultures that use their sense of smell to hunt.
