Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451.
He was born a Christian. Christopher Columbus was the
most famous explorer that ever lived. He had a long
face, with red hair, and was over the average size. He
was not fat, nor was he lean. He had light blue eyes.
Christopher was a well built man.

Christopher started learning the rudiments of navigating
and cartography. In 1478, Christopher began working for
Paul di Negro, a merchant of Genoa who had sent a ship to
the Chios Islands in 1475.

By 1492, Christopher had convinced the King and Queen
of Spain to pay him to sail to the Far East. He had the
King and Queenıs authority, and he had money. Now all he
needed was a crew. It was very hard to find a crew
because many men believed the trip would be dangerous
and that they would probably die. Others thought that
the trip was impossible. A Man named Martin Pinzon
helped Christopher find some crewmen. With Martinıs
help, the ship set sail for the Far East on August 3, 1492.

Christopher and his crew landed on a beach with trees
and strange naked people. Christopher found out that
they were not in Asia, but were in a new land that had
never been discovered before by the Europeans. This
land became known as America. Christopher received a
lot of money for discovering America, but thought he did
not get as much as he deserved. However, he was now a
very rich man. Christopher reached his goal, and died in
1506.
