Blackbeard was one of the greatest pirates of his time.

His ship was the "Queen Anne's Revenge." It was the
largest pirate ship in the 1700s. Blackbeard was born in
1680. His name at that time was Edward Drummond. Later,
when he became a pirate, he changed his name to
Blackbeard. Some say he did it because of his shaggy
black beard and hair. Blackbeard was the main pirate on
his ship. All of his crew was afraid of him, so they did
everything he wanted them to do. He was tricked into
battle by Lt. Robert Maynard. The day

Blackbeard died was November 22, 1718. Most people say

he died after being stabbed, shot and slashed across the
throat. Back then it was a custom that you hang a pirate's
head off your ship, and that is what happened to
Blackbeard.
