Anne Bonny

Anne Bonny was one of the two most famous female

pirates. She was the daughter of an Irish lawyer and
his maid. The people of Ireland didn't approve of
the Irish lawyer, so he moved to the Carolinas. There,
he made money and bought a plantation. Anne married
a man who wanted her dadıs money. This manıs name
was James Bonny. Her dad disowned her, so she nor
James got the money. They moved to the Bahamas and
made their money by turning in pirates. The governor
forgave the pirates, and the Bonny's were out of work.
Later she fell in love with a handsome Calico Jack, the
pirate. Jack tried to buy Anne from James, but James
took the situation to court, She ran away with Jack, and
they became pirates together. Anne fought and
dressed like the men. She was very talented with a
gun and was very brave in battle. Jackıs ship got
caught and he sent to jail. Anne and another women
named Mary Read were going to have babies, so they
asked if they could have their trial separate from the
men. They were both supposed to be hung, but Anne
somehow disappeared. Some people said her dad
forgave her and took her away, so we donıt really know.
Mary Read died before she was hung.
