The Titan rocket series is one of NASA's most well-known launch
vehicles. It has been used to launch Gemini capsules, probes, and military payloads.
Some of the probes were the Viking spacecraft that traveled to Mars and the Voyager
missions that visited the outer planets. The photographs that were taken during
these missions were great and expanded our knowledge of space.
The Titan rockets are built by Lockheed Martin Corporation. They
are in a series from Titan I to Titan IV. Titan IIIE/Centaur gives you a good idea of the
rocket's size and power. It is 160 feet tall and has 10.7 million newtons(2.4 million
pounds) of thrust. The Titan rockets are a key U. S. launch vehicle.
