The U.S. Space Shuttle is a reusable launch
vehicle.
After its mission is completed, it glides back to Earth to
be prepared for a future launch. The Shuttle has a large
cargo bay to carry satellites and spacecraft. The Space
Shuttle project was announced in 1972. The first flight
was in 1981.
