Venus

Welcome to Venus,
We're glad you could come!
It is second closest,
To the Sun!

Have you ever seen a pair of twins? Venus was thought to be a twin to Earth for a long time. But this is wrong. Pretty much the only thing that Earth and Venus have in common are that they are both relatively the same size. Almost everything else is different.

One of the most notable things about Venus is it's clouds. (They are made of sulfuric acid.) You might think, "So? What's so cool about clouds?" Well, think of the purpose of a greenhouse. The light from the sun goes through the glass, and is trapped in the greenhouse, heating up the temperature. Venus and it's clouds are just like that. The sunlight goes through the clouds, tries to bounce out, but is trapped. This makes venus the hottest planet in the Solar System.

Venus rotates extremely slow. One Earth day would equal 243 Venus days! If you're the kind of person who can't wait until the day is done, you sure wouldn't want to live on Venus. It would take 2 Earth months for the time between one sunrise and one sunset!!! Now that's a long time!

Now that we know a little about Venus, let's go on to Earth, our home planet!
