Click a heavenly body to go there!
The Earth is made of many layers that together make up our 7940 mile diameter planet. This includes the crust, which is 2-45 miles thick, but that's nothing compared to the other layers. The upper mantle is 400 miles thick, and the lower mantle is 1400 miles thick. That's pretty thick!! But if you want to see thick, lets go down to the next two layers which are called the outer core and the inner core. The outer core can be 1,400 miles thick and the inner core can be 1,500 miles thick!! Get your oxogen mask because you'll need it in the exosphere (the outer layer of the atmosphere) when we get there! The atmosphere starts with the troposphere, the layer of the atmosphere touching the earth, and the layer that you breath in. That concludes our adventure on Earth. Let's move on and explore the next part of our Solar System: Mars!
