As a rider, you have to have tack for your horse. You need a saddle, bridle, leg wraps, blankets, and more.We will tell you about the saddle, bridle, leg wraps, and blankets.
The first tack we ll be talking about is a saddle. A saddle is made mostly ofleather. A rider and horse benefit from a saddle, but it is still fun to ride bareback. There are 2 main kinds of saddles, Western and English. English saddles don t have as much decorations and is for English riding. Western saddles have a big horn, are for Western riding, and have. different stirrups. They are also bigger and heavier than English saddles There are many different saddle companies and kinds of saddles. There are dressage saddles, all-purpose saddles, and more. The saddle also needs a girth, stirrup leathers, stirrups, and some kind or kinds of saddle pad. Remeber to buy a horse before buying a saddle for the horse. It may take a while to find a good saddle for the horse but you can find it.
A bridle is worn on a horse s head. Like saddles, there are two main kinds ofbridles, Western and English. It has a bit that goes in the horse s mouth, a throatlatch under the throat, a noseband under and over the nose, a cheekpiece by both cheeks, a browband over the forehead or brow, and reins for steering and guiding the horse. A Western bridle has the same parts except for a noseband and its reins are not attached. There are different bits to use depending on how the horse acts. There are eggbutt snaffles, loose-ring snaffles, mullen- mouth snaffles, mullen-mouth pelhams, Kimberwicks, and more. Other kinds of bridles are the dropped noseband bridle and a hackamore. A hackamore is a bridle without a bit used on a horse who's mouth is too sensitive for a bit. A dropped noseband bridle is used only with a snaffle bit and is used to stop a horse from getting its tongue over the bit. If bridle does not fit, the horse can get hurt.
Leg Wraps are like protective boots. There are other protective boots, likebrushing boots, galloping boots, bell boots, and knee boots, but leg wraps seem the most comfortable. They are like bandages that you wrap around the lower leg. They are made out of fabric and have a velcro piece at the end to close it. You wrap it from the knee(if you re doing the front legs) or hock( if you re doing the back legs) to just above the fetlock joint.
Blankets are used for many different things, from keeping the horse warm toshipping the horse. There are different blankets used for the different things. Here are some: stable blankets, New Zealand Rugs, waterproof blankets, anti- sweat sheet, exercise sheet, and summer sheet. Most of their names explain what they are for except for the New Zealand Rug. It is worn in a field to protect from wind and cold. Blankets help a horse a lot sometimes. Every horse should at least have one kind of blanket.
