Showing can be a lot of fun, but it can also make you and your horse very nervous! There are many different types of showing. Some of them are dressage, jumping, cross country, long distance, three-day, etc. The different shows can also last for different amounts of time. Some last for a day while others last for several days. Preparing for shows can be a lot of work too, for you and your horse. To need to wear the proper clothing. Normally in shows people wear a pair of breeches, boots, a white shirt or tie, a show jacket, gloves, and a helmet. Your horse should also look nice.

Shown below are some ways to braid a horse's mane or tail:

Manes:

1. Make sure that the mane is clean and combed well. Gather small bunches of hair and put a rubber band at the top of each of them.

2. Now you can plait (braid) each bunch of hair all the way down. It should look neat.

3. Take a needle and some plaiting thread that is the same color of the mane. Use it to secure the end of the braid so it doesn't fall out.

4. Turn the end of the braid under so it looks neater.

5. Next you roll the braid up into a little ball. Remember to make sure it is tight before securing it.

6. Carefully trim off extra thread.

Tails:

1. Make sure the tail is brushed and clean. Starting at the top of the tail gather a small amount of hair. Work your way down the tail braiding, but each time bring in a little more hair to the braid. You are basically French braiding your horses tail. Keep doing this until you reach the dock.

2. You should be left with a bunch of hair at the end of your braid. Just braid this hair without taking in anymore hair. Secure it with a rubber band.

3. To finish it of tuck the end under and secure it with either a needle and thread or a rubber band if your in a hurry.
