Nick Park, director and creator of Wallace and Gromit, started Claymation at a very young age. Claymation is the same as animation in the way that you take many pictures and play them all back at a very fast speed so that your eye interprets them as one picture of something moving. Claymation is different in the way that you take lots of pictures of clay instead lots of pictures of drawings. Nick Park slowly worked up a company called Aardmen Animations. He first created A Grand Day Out in 1992. It surprisingly took six years to create it. Then he created The Wrong Trousers in 1993 and A Close Shave in 1995. All of these movies won academy awards. Rumor has it that there will be more Wallace and Gromit films to come. |

A Grand Day Out was Nick Park's (the creator of the world famous Wallace and Gromit) first movie in the hit trilogy Wallace and Gromit. A Grand Day Out is about Wallace and Gromit who run out of cheese which is Wallace's favorite food. "Everyone knows the moon is made of cheese" remarks Wallace, an average British man who lives at home with his dog, Gromit, who always seems to be disappointed with his master Wallace. Wallace and Gromit construct a rocket ship out of scrap metal and go to the moon. When they get to the moon they find that the moon doesn't taste exactly like cheese. They also find a vending machine looking robot (but at the time they do not know it is a robot). Wallace reluctantly puts money into a slot in the machine. It doesn't seem to work so they walk away. Later, the robot turns on and finds that they had been eating the moon. Also, he finds a skiing magazine and decides that he should go skiing back on earth. The robot goes back to Wallace's space ship and tries to get in but is to big. Wallace thinks the robot is trying to destroy the space ship so Wallace and Gromit have an emergency countdown. They take off and leave the robot behind on the moon. Finally, Wallace and Gromit get home safely but back on the moon the robot is upset because he could not go skiing. He is about to leave when suddenly he finds two pieces of scrap metal. To most people this metal would be nothing but to this robot the metal made excellent skis. All the rest of the day the robot skied his way around and around the moon. A Grand Day Out was the first movie made by Nick Park and
Aardman Animations. It took them six years, a lot more then Park expected but his hard work really paid off to create the first movie and spark the trilogy of Wallace and Gromit. |

The Wrong Trousers was the second movie in the trilogy of Wallace and Gromit. It was created by Nick Park in 1993. The Wrong Trousers starts out on Gromit's birthday. Wallace gives him a collar, leash, and as Wallace tuns around he sees a large present that slowly walked towards him. Wallace unwrapped the present for Gromit, it was a pair of "Techno Trousers". Techno Trousers are pants that you tie the leash to them, program the amount of minutes you want them to walk the dog for, and tell them to go. Wallace wasn't a poor man but he was having problems with paying bills. That same day Wallace recieved many bills that he couldn't pay so Walace rented out the extra room in his house and soon after, a penguin came to live in the room that Wallace had put up for rent. What Wallace didn't know was that the penguin was really a theif. The penguin then stole the techno trousers and changed them so that he had a remote control and could control the trousers. The next morning he forced Walace into the techno trousers and took the trousers for a test drive. Poor Wallace! He was dragged around town by the techno trousers. After the penguin was satisfied he let Wallace rest for the night. Late that night the penguin put Wallace into the techno trousers while he was still asleep. He took Wallace to the town museum and made the techno trousers break in. They went right to the diamond. The penguin accidently set off the alarm so Wallace, the trousers, and the penguin had to run away but Wallace had no choice since he was in the trousers. When they got home Wallace and Gromit caught the penguin and took him to the zoo. The reward money paid off all of Wallace's bills and once again Wallace's life returned to normal. |
