People have always explored. From the dawn of time through the new millennium, we have continued to discover what has previously been unknown. Thousands of years ago, the Native Americans came from Asia across the land bridge to a new world. They spent centuries exploring this new land and building new civilizations and empires. In the late 1400s, Europeans "discovered" this "New World" by accident while they were trying to find a shorter route to the Indies. Our website will introduce you to some of the great explorers that filled in the map with lands that were previously unknown to Europeans. You will learn about why they sailed, where they sailed, what they found, and how they treated each other and the people that they met. Begin your exploration along one of two routes recently discovered. The first route takes you through an introduction to why Europeans explored during the Age of Exploration, then you can choose famous explorers by the country they sailed for. The second route is for the more experienced explorer that is ready to hop on board. On this route, you can go directly to our explorer timeline and choose from a list of famous explorers. If you've already explored our site or you're an explorer expert already, set
