Suspension bridges have not been around that long. When you drive on a suspension bridge sometimes it feels like you’re floating in the air. Some famous suspension bridges are the Golden Gate Bridge, the Tower Bridge, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Suspension bridges are really simple. Suspension bridges consist of cable, which supports the bridge, and 2 towers, which connects the cables. The cable is the most important part of a suspension bridge. We think suspension bridges are the best kind of bridge to stretch over a bay. We think suspension bridges are cool and neat. The Golden Gate and Brooklyn bridge are suspension bridges. The Golden Gate bridge is red even though it’s called the Golden Gate bridge. The compression pushes down on the suspension bridges deck and the cables transfer the compression to the towers which dissipate the compression directly into the earth where they are firmly entrenched. All of the worlds longest and many of the best-known bridges are suspension.
