BIKE STUNTS AND
TRICKS
|

|
There are many tricks and
stunts that you can do on your bike. X-ups, supermans,
and tabletops are only a few. With these detailed
explanations of some of the best tricks, coolest
courses, and important terms,
you'll never be confused again.
THE TRICKS
X-UP - When you jump into the
air, turn your handlebars about 180 degrees, and cross
your arms. X-UPS are easiest when you go off a jump with
lots of air time.
Tabletop-When you turn your
handlebars 90 degrees and turn your bike horizontally.
Very easy when on a ramp with lots of time in the
air.
Can-Can -When you take either
your right of left foot and swing it over the top of your
frame while in the air.
Disco-When you take one foot
and one hand off the bike on opposite sides.
Superman-When you take both
feet off your pedals and extend them behind your bike.
The farther you extend them the better.
Nothing-When you take both
hands and both feet off the bike for a short time. Get
used to taking hands and feet off one at a time before
you try this trick.
Backflip-To do a backflip lean
as far back as you can while in the air. Before you try a
backflip, you should be very comfortable with jumping
tricks.
Bunny hop-When you take both
wheels off the ground while on a flat surface. First, get
low on your bike. Then pull up and back on your
handlebars very fast.
THE COURSES
Flatland-A smooth flat surface
where the riders do mostly wheelies. They never do any
jumping tricks on a flatland course.
Dirt Ramp- A large ramp made
out of dirt. It's only for jumping. On dirt ramps, you do
tricks such as toboggans and tabletops.
Street Course- 1)Just riding on
the street. 2) A mostly flat course with jumps and
rails.
Pyramid- Basically, a pyramid,
but the top is flat. Used for a lot of jumping
tricks.
Launch Ramp- A fairly steep
ramp that makes you fly into the air. Almost always used
for jumping very high and going a far
distance.
Vertpipe-Two ramps connected so
while you're building up speed going down one ramp, you
get ready to do a cool jump off the other.
