RECUMBENT
TANDEM

While riding on a bike path, one of our coaches met a woman riding a tandem with her son. But this was no ordinary tandem; it was a recumbent tandem. When the teacher asked her if she could take a picture and use it on a web site, the woman said that it was fine. She said people take their picture all the time and are very curious about the bike.

When you ride a recumbent bike, you ride your bike while leaning back. Both riders are challenged with this bicycle!

The woman and her family had just finished a 150 mile bike ride the day before. The family owns 2 tandems. This one is a specially made recumbent tandem.

Her other tandem is built for three, and the father rides it with their two younger children. This tandem is one that lets the kids have an easier ride. The adult does most of the work.

To find out more about why people like to ride recumbent tandem bikes and to see lots of different kinds of recumbent tandems, visit this site.
