GREG LeMOND

Greg LeMond is a very fast biker. He has become champion in races all over the world.

Greg won the Tour De France in 1986, 1989, and 1990. The Tour de France is a race in France which lasts about 22 days and has 20 different stages.

He was the first American to win the famous race. In 1984, he finished third, which was the best a non-European had done in the race. In 1986, after a race of over 2000 miles, LeMond emerged victorious as the first American ever in the history of the Tour De France to win.

LeMond grew up in Nevada and rode everywhere he went. He was already famous in his home town as being a biker when he started his professional bicycle racing career. He became a star almost instantaneously.

Greg LeMond is a very tough guy. He was shot by his brother in a hunting accident and then came back to win the Tour De France in 1989. That race was very close. Greg won by only 8 seconds.

He retired in 1994 when he was diagnosed with a serious muscle disease. People all over the world will remember Greg LeMond for a very, very long time.
