Imagine riding a bicycle around
your neighborhood. That could take a long time, right?
Well, not nearly as long as 2500 miles. That's how far
the famous cyclist, Lance Armstrong, had to ride. Plus,
he had to beat hundreds and hundreds of other cyclists.
Can you do that?
Lance Armstrong won the 1999 Tour de
France. The Tour de France is a race in France which
lasts about 22 days and has 20 different stages. He was
the first American to win the tour since Greg
LeMond in 1990. Armstrong has
done something incredibly amazing. But he almost couldn't
even compete. In the early 1990's, Armstrong was
diagnosed with cancer. He had a 50-50 chance of staying
alive. In 1997, Lance Armstrong overcame his terrible
disease and survived. Here are some other cool facts
