How does a satellite get power to keep working?

People used to use nuclear power. Nuclear power produces enough energy to operate a space tug. Nuclear power was very hard to get licensed.   It was hard to get licensed because nuclear power is very dangerous.  For example if you had a problem with a nuclear power plant, it could kill people!  Since it is so dangerous it is now outlawed!

Another way that satellites get power is solar power. Satellites use different types of collectors which gather the solar energy. The panels collect the energy.  The panels have to be facing the sun in order to get the energy.  If they somehow get facing a different way the satellites can't get power any more, so that means  the satellites will no longer work.   The satellite isn't always in the sunlight so it stores some of the energy in batteries so when it's on the other side of the earth it still has power.
