Jackie Robinson

jjjjjJackie Robinson was born Jack Roosevelt Robinson on January 31, 1919, in Cairo, Georgia. In 1947, he became the first African American man to play Major League baseball. He played second base with the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947-1956. During that time he led the Dodgers to 6 World Series. During his baseball career he stole 197 bases. He was the National League stolen base leader for 2 years. In 1962, he was the first African American man to be voted in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jackie Robinson died October 24, 1972 in Stamford, Connecticut.
