Sandy Koufax

jjjjjSanford Koufax was born on December 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. When Sandy was a child, he loved to play basketball. Later on in his life, he went to the University of Cincinnati on a basketball scholarship, but signed with the Dodgers. Even though his career was short, it was dominating. Over one five year span in his career he led the National League in ERA's all years. Also, he had a record of 111-34 during tht time period. In 1958, Koufax posted an 11-11 mark with a 4.40 ERA in 26 starts and 46 appearances. He won both the MVP and Cy Young Award in 1965 and 1966. Sandy retired in 1966. Sandy Koufax was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972.
