Elementary School Through The Ages

Our website is about elementary school throughout the ages. Have you ever wondered how kids in ancient Egypt learned? Do you know what pounce is? And, what's an inkhorn? At your school, do the boys get ten lashes for misbehaving to the girls?

You can learn how school subjects, recesses, lunches and classrooms have changed by clicking on a timeline showing American schools from 1600s to today and on a globe of ancient civilizations.

Click around our classroom or in the table below and read about discipline or how to become a teacher. Relive the school days of other generations and cultures by reading and listening to our interviews with family and friends. There are some fun activities to try in Lesson Plans.  Finally, take our quiz to see what you've learned.

We would love to hear about your elementary school experiences in our Guest Book. When you grade us on our report card, we hope to get an A+!
