Gray Whales



The Gray whales scientific name is "Eschrictius robustus" The Gray Whales Southward migration takes place in the fall.  As many as 75
whales will pass coastal points on days of high concentration. The whale watching expeditions are great enjoyment to the public.

In healthy conditions Gray Whales can reach up to 50 feet in length and weigh more than 40 tons. These numbers may seen large but the Blue Whales,
also baleen, reach up to 100 feet in length and weigh more than 100 tons.

Gray Whales are endangered because of habitat change. Many Gray Whales are now protected by law.
