The White Doe

When John White left the colonists he didn't know they would disappear or that he would be gone for three years. Right now our main person to focus on is little Virginia Dare the first baby of the new world.
While John White was gone she grew up in an Indian village Manteo's to be exact. All the young braves loved her. Okisko, one brave, put wings on his canoe after hearing that boats from England had wings. He did this to impress Virginia. However, things would take an odd turn very soon. Cipo, the old Pow-wow or Medicine man, wanted to marry Virginia. She refused to marry him, telling her mother that Cipo was old and ugly.
One night, Virginia and Okisko were walking in the woods and Cipo appeared. Cipo was very jealous of their friendship.  Okisko and Virginia ran.  When they did, Cipo trapped them in a ring of fire. Sparks flew out of the gourd in Cipo's hand and Virginia turned into a white doe.

Okisko went back to the village. Night after night, a white doe kept appearing at the village. So Okisko went to find a medicine stronger then Cipo's. He found what he was looking for.  A medicine man of another village told him to take an arrow go, to a certain spring and plunge his arrow into it. Then he was to shoot the white doe in the heart. With this, she would transform back into her human form. Meanwhile, Wanchese, a chief of a near by tribe had gotten tired of the white doe coming to his village. He declared a hunt for the white doe.  The brave that killed her would have great honor. On the night of the hunt Wanchese and Okisko saw the white doe  and fired at the same time. Okisko's arrow hit a split second before Wanchese's. Virginia turned back into a human only long enough for Wanchese's arrow to strike her.  She was dying.   Okisko ran to the spring and plunged his arrow into the water hoping he could save Virginia. When he came to where she had fallen a white doe bounded into the forest. Maybe she was saved in this way he thought.
