Snakes of Madagascar

There are no dangerous snakes in Madagascar. There are three types; the blind snakes, boas, and Columbridae.

Blind snakes are very skinny black or grey, with reduced eyes that are hidden beneath head plates.

The boa is usually greyish green.  At certain times, it develops a purplish blue tinge.  Even the tongue becomes a bright shade of blue.

The weirdest Madagascan snake is the Langaha nasuta,. The nose of the female looks like a leaf. The nose of the male looks like a thorn.
