Superstitions: Do You Believe?

 

Superstitions are what people make up to make other people nervous about what they're doing, such as walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror. I'm in a computer group at Deer Park Elementary where we try to get people to understand what people said and did long ago to entertain themselves and others. We think this is important so people know what can happen and what can't happen.

 

Martians vs. Stop lights

I believe Martians are in the stoplights and their feet turn green, their bodies turn yellow, and their faces turn red.

Good luck Cricket

Having a cricket in your house is supposed to be good luck.  

 

Black Cat

If a black cat walks in front of you then you will have bad luck.

Black -Eyed Peas

Eating black -eyed peas is good on New Year's Eve because then you will have good luck.

Leprechaun

If you find a leprechaun or a four leaf clover then you will have good luck.  

 

Chain Letters? Or Bad Luck? 

If you get a Chain Letter you have to mail it to everyone you know or else you get bad luck 

Some stories people write in chain letters to keep them going are: 

If you send this to five more people you will be in the book of world records.

You'll be letting down thousands of children who are dying of cancer

Lady bug, Lady bug fly away home

If you catch a Lady bug you get good luck.

 

Salt

If you spill salt you have to throw some over your shoulder.

 

Milk Breath!

 

You shouldn't let a cat near a baby because the baby will smell milk on the cat's breath and try to suck the milk out and suffocate.  

 

YOU PUT YOUR RIGHT LEG OUT! AND YOU SHAKE ALL ABOUT! 

If you shake your leg you will shake all your good luck out.
