Hi. My name is Daniel Weeks. I am doing a webpage with my friends, Kayla and John. Did you know the first solid fuel rockets were projectiles? They were powered by exploding gunpowder.
The British used rockets made by William Congreve. They bombed targets on the shore during Napoleonic wars and also in the war of 1812. During that time William Congreve used launching tubes to improve accuracy of those cool inventions called rockets.
In the year of 1926 on the day of March 25h Robert H. Goddard launched the first liquid fuel rocket. In the late 1930's many theorists were suggesting that rockets might be the key to human exploration in space.
The first large rocket was invented by Werner von Braun. It was called V-2. It was used to bomb their enemies.
The largest rocket was 363 feet high. Saturn 5 was its name. It was used between 1967 and 1972 to send astronauts to the big piece of cheese. (the moon).
Today the largest rocket in use carries a space lab. Can you believe it uses 6.7 millions of thrust. Talk about gas!
Did you know no rockets
ever have reached Mars and past? Rockets are cool inventions.
I hope you like my article on rockets.
