Did you know when people finally got up into the air; they used big hot air balloons.  WOW!  The people knew that hot gases rise.  Did you know that?  So when the balloon rose it was because it had air in it.  Some of the other balloons were run by engines.  These balloons were called air ships.

     Did you know in 1670, Francesco de Lana had a suggestion it was a balloon lifted by hollow meatballs?  COOL!  Hot air balloons had become an international sport.  The very first British designed a balloon that flown by its builder, James Salter, on October 4, 1784.
