In 1885 only very rich people could buy the Model T Ford, but then they started a big production and anybody could buy a Model T Ford.

Karl Benz

Many inventors say they created the first gas-driven automobile.  Karl Benz has a better claim because he created a tricycle with a single-cylinder gas engine.  Its fastest speed was 8 mph (13kph).

In 1924 the Ford Motor Company made its 10-millionth car.  In 1985 the Sinclair C5 was a tiny single-seater “car”.  It was  powered by a certain type of electrical engine used in washers.  It was an instant flop.
