A rich, soothing sound, the
French horn, a fine instrument. The modern French horn of today measures about twelve
feet when stretched to its full extent. Today it's the only brass instrument
with a mouthpiece shaped like a funnel. The French horn of old times was
definitely not made for indoor use, it was used for hunting and signaling for
nobleman in France. In old times the bell wasn’t as wide and the tube was
shorter, it had less curves and turns, and had no valves. It evolved from a loud
instrument meant more for the chase, into the classy, fine instrument it is
today.
