The cymbals are metal brass plates that are equal in size. The cymbals are large and make a loud sound when played. Several ways of playing are:

Clashing them together
A brushing movement
Striking them with a stick
Shuffling them together
Suspending 1 cymbal on a bracket and striking it with a stick

The cymbals must be played with the right amount of force to produce the right sound. It also depends on where you hit the cymbal because different places make different sounds.

Cymbals were first made in about 3000B.C. when the Chinese used them to scare their adversaries, a technique used in the Korea in 1950, which is why percussion is a Chinese word for "war".
