In the beginning the Greek God Poseidon created Atlantis to be the perfect island with half-human - half-god inhabitants. He had ten sons to whom he gave each a portion of land to own. The people of Atlantis were happy and content for a while but soon they wanted more and more until they became so greedy they started drawing a plan to take over Greece. They fought for the plunder they knew existed in Greece but failed. When the Atlantisans returned to their island, Poseidon was so angry at the people's greediness he began to sink the island into the Atlantic Ocean. The people panicked and begged him for mercy. He ignored their pleas and Atlantis was never seen again.
Cool story, but is it really true? Some scientists say "There is no possible way because Greek Gods have never existed". Others say "The continent wasn't created by Greek Gods but was populated by highly advanced natives". Nobody can tell, can you?
Many scientists say that Atlantis must have been far more advanced than we would be even in the year 2100 but others say they were primitive and did things as we would now.
In 1954 a scientist named Edgar Cayce predicted an Atlantisan temple would rise out of the sea near the Bahamas in 1968. In early 1998 the remains of ancient buildings with a design never seen before were seen near the Bahamas just as Edgar Cayce predicted.
The Greek philosopher Plato talked of Atlantis in his dialogues "Timeus" and "Critius". He told of an Egyptian priest he knew that had discovered Atlantis and on his way back home was killed in a shipwreck.
