Parades have been around for a hundred years and more. The oldest parade is Commus and it stopped parading years ago but it does have a Ball. Some of the other old parades are Rex, it started in 1872,Proteus,(returning from an eight year absence of parading)1882, Olympia(on the Northshore)1965 and Zulu (African-American only members)1916.

Most all parades are fairly big but some people say there are some ‘Super Parades’. Some of the Super Parades are Bacchus,Rex, Orpheus,Endymion and Zulu. Also Olympia on the Northshore.

The krewe is not the only ones that are in the parades. There is Mock royalty, high school marching bands, dancers, horseback rides, police, flambeaux carriers, a fire truck and street cleaners.
