Major Volcanoes In North America

Mount St. Helens is an active volcano in the Cascade Mountain Range in southwestern Washington state, in the USA. The volcano was dormant since 1857 but on May 18, 1980 an earthquake caused a landslide that triggered an eruption. The mountain elevation was decreased from 9,677 ft. to 8,365 ft., that’s 312 ft. smaller. There have been a couple of minor eruptions since then.

Mount Shasta is in the Cascade Mountain Range in northern California state, in the USA. The mountain elevation is 14,162 ft. It’s first recorded eruption was in 1786 and the most recent eruption was in 1786. This eruption in 1786 was the first recorded eruption in the Cascade Mountain Range.
