Singapore is one of only two cities in the world to have a
significant area of primary rainforest within its boundaries.
Rainforests are thick, wet forests that are the homes of
many people, plants, and animals that are not found anywhere else in the world.
There are so many trees in the rainforests that they affect the weather all over the
world. They even affect the air we breathe. Also, many prescriptions drugs are
made from ingredients that can only be found in the rainforest.
Unfortunately, rainforests are being cut down at the rate of
about 100 acres per minute. Trees are cut down to clear areas for growing crops and
raising cattle, and to make into furniture.

rainforests, you can visit this site:

Make a Rainforest in a Bottle
Place about two inches of potting soil into a
two liter clear plastic pop bottle. Add a variety of seeds. Grass and herbs
are great. Add about 1/4 cup of water, place the cap on the bottle, and put it in a
warm sunny place. You will not have to open the bottle again. The bottle will
act as a terrarium and the moisture will recycle from the soil into the air and back to
the soil. When the plants begin to grow, you will witness transpiration (water returning to
the air from the plants), condensation (water droplets forming in the bottle), and precipitation (drops of water falling from the bottle to the soil).
