Block Printing

Block printing was invented in China during the T'ang dynasty.  In block printing, pictures or words are carved into a block of wood.  Then ink is applied and the image is pressed onto a piece of paper.  We tried the same thing with a potato!  We cut the potato in half and carved an image into the flat side.  Then we brushed on paint and pressed the potato firmly onto the paper.  The photo below shows our work.
