Jules Verne


Jules Verne was born February 8, 1928 in Nantes, France.  He is known as the inventor of science fiction.  Many of the ideas he used in his stories later became reality.  Verne wrote about spacecraft, guided missiles, aircraft, submarines, and helicopters long before these things were actually invented.

Some of Jules Verne's most famous works include:  Around the World in 80 Days, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, From the Earth to the Moon, and Mysterious Island.  Many of this books have been made into movies.

Jules Verne died on March 24, 1905.
