The Sun God of Greece and Rome

The sun god of Greece and Rome was the same. His name was Apollo, also known as Phoebus, Helios, Cyntheus, and Pytheus. He was also the god of light, music, art, poetry, mathematics, medicine, truth, science, and healing. He had a twin sister who was Artemis, the Goddess of the moon and chase. Apollo's father was Zeus and his mother was the Titaness, Leto.

Apollo was described as having dark, golden hair and deep blue eyes. He wore a golden panther skin tunic and carried a golden bow and arrow. Apollo rode across the sky in his chariot made of gold drawn by white horses. He had a bad habit of being wild and hot-tempered which almost got him kicked out of Mount Olympus. Apollo's job was to keep the sun's movement running smoothly.

Apollo was also famous for taming the nine muses, killing his mother's enemy, the serpent Python, and challenging mortals to music contests.
