In the late 1700's, the
first gymnastics school in Europe opened up to the public. The school
was started by
Frederick John a German teacher.
From recent studies scientists have found out that the ancient Egyptians liked building pyramids and doing acrobatic activies.
The Greeks were the first people to emphasize gymnastics.
In the Greek city of Athens, tournaments were held such as tumbling,rope
climbing, and many more activities.Their love of the sport turned it into
a Olympic sport. After the end of the Roman Empire, the wonderful sport
disappeared for centuries.
The first gymnastics club in the United States was
opened in 1850, then many people in Europe started building their
own clubs.
