The Tea Acts
A couple years after the Boston Massacre, the colonists tried to stay calm for a few years. Britain had repealed the Townshend Acts. The colonial boycott had injured their trade and they wanted the colonial business. They kept a tax on one of the products, and it was tea-to show the colonists that Britain still had the right to tax the tea.
Then Britian had faced a new problem. The East India Company, one of the largest companies in England, was losing money. To help it recover, Parliament passed the Tea Act in 1773.
