The Stamp Acts
The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament in 1765. The act was to raise money for the cost of soldiers on the colonies. The Stamp act was a tax on most paper goods. Most loyalists obeyed this law,but the patriots were very angry. Colonists started rioting and saying that they couldn't 't be taxed unless their elected representatives said so, but the colonists In October 1765 the colonies reperenstiaves gathered in New York to talk about the Stamp Act. This meeting was the first united action the colonies. Finally in 1766 The stamp acts were repealed by Parliament.
