Boston Massacre

     The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. The assignment of British troops to Boston, Massachusetts had upset colonists. A fight broke out when anywhere from 40 to 70 people threatened on guard British  troops. Captain Thomas Preston, a British officer, brought several soldiers to his assistance. At this time the crowd was near 400 people. the crowd was coming closer every minute. The troops fired into the crowd, killing three people and wounding eight others two of them died. Many angry colonists demanded that British Troops be removed from the colonies and the trial of Captain Preston and his troops for murder. At Captain Preston's trial, John Adams and Joshiah Quincy were the counsel for the defense.it couldn't be proved that Captain Preston ordered his troops to fire, and he was acquitted. Two of Preston's men were later found guilty of manslaughter.
